Blue Lumen was created by me, Luis Angel, a Puerto Rican photographer born in New York City. I studied photography at various schools around the city, while learning just as much from observing people move around me, inspired by the constant rhythm and movement of the streets.
I’ve always believed that artists are shaped by their surroundings. When I moved to the West Coast, my inspiration shifted. I became drawn to spaces, design, textures, and the way shadows fall across color. I discovered a love for photographing minimalist spaces, always searching for images that could calm my restless, anxious energy.
Today, I live in Los Angeles and work as a full-time art and antiques photographer. One day, while on assignment at a Palm Springs hotel, I found myself admiring the artwork on the walls. It struck me that my own photographs, which friends and colleagues had often admired for their quiet contrasts and simplicity, would also belong in such spaces. That moment sparked the idea for this fine art store.
Blue Lumen is my way of sharing a curated collection of images I’ve created over the years beyond social media: as tangible fine art, printed and framed with gallery-level quality.
